Job Summary:

The Office of Senior Vice President for Research at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Data Analytics and Grant Development Specialist / Assistant for Institutional Research.

The Data Analytics and Grant Development Specialist will focus on the development of multi-investigator grant applications and analyzing, managing data related to research metrics, and tracking of research financial accounts at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University (Downstate). This role will work closely with the SUNY Research Foundation to track and report on Downstate's research expenditures, grant applications, publications, and other research metrics, as well as develop and track program evaluations for grant-funded training programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Data Analysis and Management (50%): Analyze and manage data on research expenditures, grant applications, and publications. Develop and maintain databases and dashboards to monitor research metrics and outcomes.
  • Grant Proposal Development (20%): Assist Director of Research Programs Development in the development of grant proposals by providing data insights and ensuring integration of all components for compliance with funding and sponsor requirements. Develop and track program evaluations for grant-funded training programs. Under supervision of Director of Research Programs Development, develop a strategy to expand proposal development services to Downstate faculty to assist with single investigator grant mechanisms such as R0l, R03, R_21 and K awards.
  • Communication and Dissemination (10%): Independently research and disseminate information about grant programs, sponsors, agencies, and potential collaborators via targeted and standard communications with faculty and researchers.
  • Financial Tracking (20%): Assist with accounting and tracking research finances for the Office of the SVP for Research.

Other Duties:

  • Provide editorial support for grant applications.
  • Assist with other projects as needed, focusing on data management and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Proven experience in data analytics or research administration.
  • Strong skills in data management systems and software (e.g., SQL, Excel, Bl tools).
  • Advanced working knowledge of computational packages and cloud-based resources for word processing, spreadsheets, project management, data analysis and visualization, and presentation development.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Data Analytics, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with development of grant applications preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
