Job Summary:

The Department of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Associate Professor (12MO) / Director of Masters of Healthcare Administration Program.

The ideal candidate is expected to have the expertise and experiences required to provide leadership in our healthcare administration programs, which currently include a Master of Healthcare Administration and Master of Public Health, with a concentration in Healthcare Administration. Specific areas of interest include healthcare administration, strategic planning and marketing, organizational behavior, management, systems science, and/or financing and reimbursement. The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship.

This position will be primarily based at the SUNY Downstate School of Public Health Manhattan-site, but may be asked to work at the main SUNY Brooklyn campus.

Additionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Manage processes required to achieve and maintain compliance with standards of the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education ICAHME).
  • Lead efforts to raise the 'visibility of the MHA Program through building and maintenance of relationships of health care Institutions throughout New York City and by establishing a network of strong partnerships at the city, state, and national level.
  • Maintain curricular currency to ensure that MHA graduates receive world-class training that positions them for leadership opportunities.
  • Engage In teaching and mentorship of students In the MHA program.
  • Support the School of Public Health Student Affairs Office in developing approaches for recruitment, admission, and retention of students.
  • Attend regional and national conferences and events to support the program’s visibility.
  • Lead scholarship relevant to healthcare administration.

Required Qualifications:

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Terminal Degree preferred (PhD, EdD, MD, or JD) with an accompanying Master of Healthcare Administration(MHA) Degree or other related graduate degree.
