Job Summary: |
The Department of Information Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Programmer Analyst, Systems Administrator/Cloud Architect. The System Administrator/Cloud Architect is charged with installing, configuring, maintaining, managing, and performing upgrades on) Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle) and rolling out the organization's Windows and Linux operating systems in a Cloud hosted environment. The Cloud Architect will be responsible for architecting, configuring, and maintaining Cloud infrastructure and related technologies (AWS EC2, VMC, Azure VMs, S3, VPCs, Landing Zone etc.). Modernizing and adapting applications and processes to Cloud technologies. Ensure that the architecture and solutions are compliant with best practices for Cloud infrastructure. Focus on optimizing performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Enforce Cloud governance policies and implement monitoring and alerting solutions to address issues proactively. Providing support for other Cloud technologies used by the organization such as Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, etc. Providing support assistance for, VMware, Windows, Linux, SAN and NAS storage, file servers, and other infrastructure systems. You will use your experience in information technology as an Open Systems administrator to assist with and maintain current software systems and applications. Assist in troubleshooting and correcting errors, adapting to new technologies, maintaining interfaces, and working with vendors to improve performance and keep costs within budget. Additional responsibilities of the System Administrator include Assisting in solving IT problems, developing procedures, providing support to administration for meaningful use processes. Assisting in preparing systems and users for upgrades and hotfixes in addition to providing troubleshooting services and support for all operating systems, applications, and program problems. Performing daily maintenance of existing and future software. The incumbent will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist user groups on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of software systems. Provide project management and coordination for system infrastructure projects. This position may require flexible scheduling to provide services to other shifts and systems that must remain up 24x7.
