Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Technologist II / Lead Technologist. The successful candidate will:

  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations, as well as tests or procedures conducted by the Chemistry and Hematology Laboratories.
  • Serve as the Lead Tech, providing guidance and oversight to laboratory team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all departmental, hospital, and governmental regulations.
  • Train personnel on technical methodologies and the interpretation of results.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory and manage statistical records.
  • Facilitate a smooth workflow by assigning appropriate staff to tasks.   
  • Assist with coordinating administrative operations for the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as business need demands. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Science.
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASCP Certification.

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours (Full-Time)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
