Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Associate Technical Director, Hematology and Urinalysis. The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for Clinical Laboratories and office personnel.
  • Be the liaison between hospital administrative services and clinical departments.
  • Prepare and implement budget strategies for the Hematology and Uranalysis Laboratory.
  • Oversee and be accountable for supplies and equipment, and materials management.
  • Interface with office facilities, and coordinate laboratory services.
  • Participate in University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) and departmental qualify improvement activities.
  • Coordinate quality control, records and reviews performance manual for all tests conducted in the lab areas.
  • Assures proper documentation for compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Comply with all established standards, including CLIA, NYSDOH, CAP, FDA, JC, and UHB policies and procedures.
  • Assures compliance with institutional and departmental policies.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet business demand, as duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above description.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology or a closely related field. 
  • New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Laboratory Technologist.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience involving supervision of professional laboratory personnel. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • ASCP certification. 

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours (Full-Time)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-5

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
