Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time X-Ray Technologist / TH Medical Radiographer 1 (Nights). The successful candidate will:
- Be a licensed radiological technologist required to perform diagnostic imaging including general X-ray, portables, fluoroscopy, and all other applicable diagnostic exams.
- Be familiar with all diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room.
- Demonstrate the ability to produce high-quality images efficiently regardless of volume. Performs exams in accordance with established protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide outstanding assistance to external and internal customers.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Be responsible for patient care while performing Imaging, including accuracy of patient identification.
- Demonstrate the ability to deal with emergent situations.
- Maintain the principle of ALARA.
- Demonstrate the ability to teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
- Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
- Ensure all exams are completed immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
- When necessary, burn CDs and DVDs.
- Be flexible, as hours may change on as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
- Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, including principles of behavior.
- Adhere to hospital/ department infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
- Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Perform other tasks as required.
