Job Summary:

The Department of Cardiology Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH CTS Cardiology Specialist / Lead Echo Technician. The successful candidate will:
- Supervise and allocate daily assignments to the Echo Tech team and keep track of their time and attendance, performance evaluations and facilitate the activities in the Echo Lab.
- Perform echocardiography with 2-D/3-D Doppler and color flow studies in adult, late adolescent and pediatric patients in a timely manner from time of request.
- Perform stress echocardiography on adult and adolescent patients.
- Prepare echocardiogram for diagnostic interpretation and preliminary impressions.
- Input accurate patient information, register patients in the computer systems and create/maintain patient files, filing and retrieving echo reports.
- Provide all aspects of echocardiogram procedures related to patient care, including patient transportation.
- Respond promptly for recalls and function independently during oncall, recall hours.
- Liaise with the Information Technology Department on the Centricity Reporting System.
- Assist in orienting Cardiology Fellows, newly hired echocardiographers and diagnostic medical sonography students to perform echocardiography and the skills in imaging techniques.
- Maintain inventory, clinical supplies and cleanliness of the echocardiography laboratory equipment.
- Maintain accurate daily patient log for statistical reports.
- Participate in research studies coordinated for the Cardiology Fellowship Program.
- Perform equipment check and report any hazardous conditions and equipment malfunctions immediately to SMIC, FM&D, or IT as required.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, patient privacy according to HIPAA, and a safe working environment.
- Adhere to the SUNY Downstate and University Hospital's Principles of Behavior.
