Job Summary:

The Midwifery Program in the School of Health Professions at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/part-time Adjunct Instructor. Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Teaching the following course: Basic Health Skills, MIDW-4001 at the graduate level for midwifery students who are not nurses. The course includes the following topics:
    • Vital Signs & BP
    • Catheterization
    • Medications, including SC and IM injections Managing IV Therapy
    • Phlebotomy
    • Sterile technique and wound care
  • The course is 40 hours, flexibility in hours teaching includes didactic instruction, supervising laboratory practice, and assessing students ability the skills and the skills with a Competency Performance Examination for each topic.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Licensed Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Midwife or Physician Assistant. 
  • Master's Degree or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year of classroom teaching experience.
