Job Summary:

The Department of Facilities Management & Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator / Paint Shop Supervisor. The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in managing and coordinating internal painting projects.
  • Delegate the daily assignments of the Paint and Mason Shops, supervise the
  • In-House Paint and Mason Crew in planning, painting and masonry of various areas in the facilities of Downstate Medical Center.
  • Identify and resolved related issues. Make necessary adjustment where necessary to allow department to function while painting and masonry is in process.
  • Provide consultation regarding various projects.
  • Manage and coordinate projects with timely results.
  • Meet with Department Heads to coordinate alternative arrangement during painting and masonry.
  • Meet with Paint and Mason Crew to monitor progress.
  • Order and maintain equipment in a timely manner in order to minimize down time.
  • The Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator must have the ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects while producing time results.
  • Function as liaison to Project Manager for in-house equipment replacement for capital projects.
  • Function as liaison for capital equipment commissioning projects.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Director of Physical Plant and Associate Director of Physical Plant.
  • Supervise the Paint Shop and the Mason Shop in the maintenance of DMC infrastructure.
  • Establish work priorities.
  • Responsible for placing orders.
  • Able to manage and coordinate multiple projects while producing timely results
  • Coordinate projects involving shop personnel. Plan and lay out the painting and masonry and time frames of the projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience working in a hospital environment.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Associates Degree in a related field.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
