Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time X-Ray Technologist / TH Medical Radiographer 1. The successful candidate will:

  • Perform diagnostic imaging including general x-ray, portables, fluoroscopy and all other applicable.
  • Be familiar with all diagnostic equipment including portable and fluoroscopic equipment and the operating room.
  • Demonstrate the ability to produce high quality images efficiently regardless of volume. Performs exams in accordance with established protocols.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide assistance to external and internal customers. Provide excellent customer service.
  • Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification.
  • Be able to deal with emergent situations.
  • Maintain principles of ALARA
  • Demonstrate the ability to teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrate prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS. All Exams must be completed immediately in RIS and verify on PACS.
  • Be responsible for burning CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
  • Demonstrate flexibility as hours may change on as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
  • Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior.
  • Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
  • Perform other job-related tasks as required based on business demand.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Radiographer License.
  • A.R.R.T registration required.
  • A.A.S degree or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in all diagnostic x-ray procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hospital experience preferred. 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm

SL3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
