Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Virology and Molecular Pathology at SUNY Downstate Health Science University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor / TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 1. The successful candidate will:

• Perform clinical laboratory procedures and examinations and any other tests or protocols conducted by the Virology and Microbiology Laboratories.
• Function as Assistant Supervisor, responsible for the operation of a laboratory.
• Demonstrate responsibility for the day to day laboratory operations, review of quality control, and performance improvement activities.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting on Virology and Microbiology instruments.
• Maintain compliance with departmental, hospital and regulatory requirements. 
• Demonstrate flexibility and perform other related job duties as business need requires, as the duties and responsibilities are not limited to the above job description.  

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Science.
• New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist Licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP certification preferred.
• Microbiology experience preferred.
