Job Summary:

The Department of Pharmacy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Associate Director of Pharmacy. The successful candidate will:

  • Attend the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings.
  • Perform trending of cost savings and impact of length of stay.
  • Supervise all TH Senior pharmacists and TH pharmacists.
  • Co-ordinate activities of all facets oh Pharmacy services.
  • Co-ordinate and supervise activities of undergraduate Pharm.D. candidates from our Pharmacy College affiliates.
  • Provide staff development and education.
  • Assign staff to cover pharmacy service areas 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Consult physicians and Nursing leadership on a daily basis.
  • Provide drug information on demand to other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist the Director of Pharmacy with all problems pertaining to the operation of the Pharmacy, patient care, drug utilization, and Personnel, materials management as appropriate.
  • Evaluate assigned staff performance annually. 
  • Act as the second on demand for the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Attend administrative and clinical meetings as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Pharmacist Licensure and current registration. 
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree (Pharm.D.).
  • 5 years experience in an institutional pharmacy practice setting.
  • 2 years practice as a hospital supervisor.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-5

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
