The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Medical Radiographer 1 / Mammography Technician. The successful candidate will:
- Be a licensed Radiological Technologist required to perform diagnostic imaging for all Mammography procedures and Bone Density.
- Ability to perform digital breast imaging to include tomosynthesis.
- Assist the radiologist during breast biopsies, needle localization and stereotactic breast imaging procedures.
- Have the ability to perform QA testing for digital imaging equipment.
- Be familiar with all diagnostic equipment used to perform Mammography and Bone Density procedures, to include digital unit.
- Have the ability to produce high quality images efficiently, regardless of volume, and performs exams in accordance with established protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide aid to external and internal customers, providing excellent customer service.
- Be responsible for patient care while performing imaging, to include accuracy of patient identification and time out procedures.
- Be able to deal with emergent situations.
- Maintain principles of ALARA.
- Be responsible for maintaining continuing education requirements as specified by ARRT.
- Have the ability to teach House Staff or other personnel in the technical aspects of imaging equipment.
- Have prior experience with computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information Systems and PACS.
- Complete all exams immediately in RIS and verify on PACS. Burn CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
- Have scheduling flexibility, as hours may change on an as needed basis according to departmental operating needs.
- Adhere to all SUNY Downstate Medical Center and department policies and procedures, to include principle of behavior.
- Adhere to hospital/department infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintain a courteous and pleasant disposition with patients.
- Adhere to time and attendance policies.
- Perform other tasks as required.
