Job Summary:

The Department of Anesthesiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences is seeking a full-time Professor/Associate Professor & Vice Chair. The successful candidate will:

• Report directly to the Chair of the Department of Anesthesiology and work closely with the Hospital CEO.
• Work with the Anesthesia Director and Clinical Director of the operating room to improve operational efficiencies including first case starts, turnover time, and day of surgery cancellations. 
• Work with the surgical specialty chairs and anesthesia subspecialty directors to formulate enhanced recovery after surgery protocols. 
• Work with the Assistant Vice President for Surgical Service Line to formulate policies to improve efficiency in the operating room.
• Consult the disposition of any patient who is being considered for cancellation of the day of surgery.
• Work clinically in the operating room at a 0.80FTE.
• Review policies and procedures in pre-surgical testing with the goal of improving the patient and surgeon experience. 

Required Qualifications:

• Medical Doctor Degree.
• New York State Medical Licensure.
• Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
