Job Summary:

The School of Health Professions at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Program Chair & Professor (12MO), Applied Behavioral Analysis Program (Tenure Track). Reporting directly to the Dean of School of Health Professions, the successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate advanced skills in administration, teaching, research, clinical experience, and a record of substantial scholarship or potential for scholarship.
  • Be committed to the concepts of interdisciplinary teamwork and increasing the diversity of the program's faculty and student body.
  • Oversee and develop program materials, policies, procedures, and courses. 
  • Teach, managed budgets, secure faculty through hiring, and evaluate/mentor the program's faculty.
  • Provide leadership for the new program including overseeing the Applied Behavioral Analysis faculty clinical practice.
  • Work closely with the program faculty, staff and other school Chairs, the Assistant and Associate Deans, and Dean of the School of Health Professions, along with faculty and staff university-wide. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Eligible for licensure as a doctoral-level behavioral analyst in New York State.
  • Doctoral Degree (PhD or EdD).
  • National certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in program leadership and management.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • 5+ years of clinical experience in applied behavior analyst practice.
  • Clinical expertise in any of the Applied Behavioral Analysis clinical specialty areas will be considered. 
  • Ability to mentor faculty and staff in the tasks associated with achieving academic success, managing academic program operations, and team building.
  • Ability to mentor students for academic and clinical success.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with an established line of scholarly work.
  • Experience using contemporary instructional technologies and learning management systems to deliver curricula in person and from a distance.
  • Active involvement in service with local, state, national and/or professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis program accreditation requirements.
  • Organization, program planning, development, and evaluation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of equivalent full-time experience teaching in higher education.
  • Grant writing skills and record of securing grant funding.
