Job Summary: |
The Student Counseling Center in the College of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Counselor, Mental Health Clinician. The ideal candidate will have a passion for mental health and the ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for students. The successful applicant will possess a strong combination of clinical knowledge, interpersonal skills, and the desire to serve our student population. The Counselor will provide short term individual counseling and facilitate groups for students presenting with a wide range of concerns, some with long standing mental health histories, and to provide workshops related to mental health and wellness. Prior experience in treating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, sexual assault, substance abuse, trauma, ADHD, and working with first generation students, LGBTQIA+ students, and understanding of intersectionality.
