Job Summary:
|
The Department of Pediatrics at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Administrator / Senior Staff Associate. The successful candidate will:
- Serve as the Business/Financial Manager across all clinical locations, including financial management of all clinical care, educational and research programs of the department.
- Prepare and provide on-going monitoring of all academic and hospital operating, personnel (All Funds Budget) and capital equipment budgets totaling over 14 million dollars (i.e. COM, UHB, CPMP budgets, GME/RF/Dept IFR accounts, not including Kings County Hospital).
- Oversee professional service agreements, business/ strategic planning, faculty personnel transactions, prepare Chair correspondence etc.
- Submit invoices to affiliates based on physician schedules, track payments, make bank deposits and reconcile with University Physicians of Brooklyn (UPB) Finance Office (including follow-up on collection of outstanding payments from affiliates).
- Work with University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB) administration and the faculty practice (UPB) to integrate physician compensation components.
- Project revenue and operating expenditures for Peds CPMP & UHB clinical programs. Prepare profit & loss statements.
- Work with Division Directors (9 clinical Divisions) to develop business plans. Responsible for analyzing, preparing, and making recommendations regarding ongoing or new divisional programs to Chair.
- Assist Chair with faculty salary setting process and administration by providing methods, data and benchmarks to evaluate productivity.
- Oversee and provide guidance in the hiring and evaluating of faculty and support staff including recruitment and retention activities.
- Assist in management of research grant funding and preparing budgets for grant applications (i.e. Regional Perinatal Center Grant from DOH).
- Negotiate and implement physician appointment agreements.
- Serve as liaison between Pediatric Practice & Medical Billing Service (Bill of Health Inc).
- Identify off campus practice opportunities.
- Be the Policy Administrator for Brooklyn Pediatrics Associates malpractice policies with MILMIC (Medical Liability Insurance Company).
- Assist the Director of Ambulatory Care Program in planning possible merger of Pediatric Outpatient Department (UHB & CPMP).
- Represent the Department Chairman, as requested, at strategic planning meetings.
- Together with General Department Administrator, oversee space utilization and ongoing renovation and maintenance of the physical plant.
- Function as department liaison with other clinical departments, hospital and university administrators and external constituencies.
- Work with leadership of the COM, UHB, Research Foundation and GME to ensure that all educational and research financial activities are compliant with SUNY policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:
|
- 7+ years of active relevant business management experience, including 3 to 5 years in healthcare environment.
- Prior experience as the business manager/financial analyst in an academic/clinical department required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Care or Pubic Administration.

- Master's Degree in Business, Health Care or Pubic Administration.
