Job Summary:

The Department of Information Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Lead Programmer Analyst / Clinical Applications Analyst.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President & Deputy Chief Information Officer, the Clinical Application Analyst is charged with the coordination, implementation and maintenance of multiple clinical applications and systems. The Clinical Application Analyst will work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems, within all departments in the Information Systems division, and all other departments or groups, campus-wide and off-site, as necessary, in problem-solving issues related to clinical information systems. May require 24/7 rotating support.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide daily analytical, operational, maintenance and end-user technical support for multiple clinical applications, systems and projects.
• Support the implementation and deployment of various clinical applications, systems and projects.
• Participate in system and integration testing.
• Maintain detailed documentation on all aspects of clinical information systems implementation and upgrade projects.
• Write and generate reports for management (quality check and efficiencies) and provide weekly updates.
• Travel to offsite locations when necessary to troubleshoot problems, oversee upgrades, or install new hardware and software.
• Prepares end-user, computer operations and help-desk documentation, adhering to documentation standards.
• Maintain membership in organizations that enhance professional growth, and attend conferences and seminars as required.

Required Qualifications:

• Relevant Certification required (CompTIA ITF+, CompTIA A+, etc.).
• Knowledge of one or more programming language and proficiency in multiple operating systems.
• 1 to 5 years of work experience supporting, implementing and extending the capabilities of clinical systems; must be able to examine and evaluate current systems, analyze system problems, and develop solutions; as well as analyze user processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of functional areas supported, including basic concepts and terminology, tools, automated processes and procedures and other 3rd party products.
• Proficiency of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management, including tools and techniques.
• Establish good working relationships with vendors, users, managers, subordinates, and peers.
• Excellent communication skills to communicate with end-users and management in a non-technical manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)
