Job Summary:

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Director of Finance, Data and Analytics / TH Supervising Financial Analyst.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the oversight, management, analysis, and projections of financial and operational data in the department, across all clinical settings, divisions, and services. The incumbent will be responsible for building appropriate business intelligence dashboards from various data sources and legal entities in order to increase the transparency and accountability of department operations. Incumbent will be responsible for managing department vendor, affiliate, and physician payment operations, and ensuring timely and accurate payment.
The incumbent will report to the Executive Administrator for the department, who is the business partner to the Chairman of the department. The incumbent's position will be dual-funded by SUNY Downstate University Hospital at Downstate (UHD) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery & Rehabilitation Medicine and University Physicians of Brooklyn (UPB) D/B/A University Orthopaedic Associates (UOA) budgets. The incumbent will be a key partner to the Executive Administrator and Chairman in building the department's new strategic plan as part of the evolving and new enterprise strategic plan. Incumbent will be responsible for all financial and compliance audits of the department.
Additional duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the Executive Administrator, Chairman, Division Administrators, and Director of Outpatient Operations in the financial management and operational data management of the department's UHD, College of Medicine (COM), Health Science Center of Brooklyn Foundation (HSCBF), and UPB-UOA accounts.
- Analyze, monitor, and review expenditure and payroll reports and compare with budgeted amounts to perform financial forecasting and improvement plans. Assist management in comparing operational metrics to benchmarks and expectations.
- Perform statistical analyses and write narrative reports explaining findings and offering potential solutions and courses of action.
- Implement department processes and procedures for controlling, monitoring, and reporting on account expenditures and annual budgets.
- Monitor and verify all income and expenses to the department's financial reporting accounts.
- Responsible for the accurate reporting of physician productivity metrics (OR cases, outpatient visits, case types, RVUs) and maintenance of physician and patient data relating to visit, demographic, and referral trends.
- Prepare quarterly reports and analyses for hospital administration for RVU-based incentive compensation.
- Build infrastructure to monitor and analyze clinical staff productivity and maximize operational efficiencies and revenue capture.

Required Qualifications:
|
- Bachelor's Degree required; preferably with a concentration in finance or business.
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, ideally in a healthcare organization.
- Proficiency in budget and payroll oversight, data analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Proficiency in multiple financial and operations data.

- Master's Degree in finance or business preferred.
- 5+ years of related work experience preferred.
