Job Summary:

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitative Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Therapy Aide/Rehab Aide. The successful candidate will:
- Under the direct supervision of therapists, assist with direct patient care. Areas of support/assistance may include:
- Daily hygiene
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL)
- Transferring patients from beds into wheelchairs
- Escorting patients to and from therapy
- Assisting with transfers
- Assisting with ambulation training on level surfaces and stairs
- Monitoring and maintaining cleanliness of rehab equipment
- Disinfecting equipment, treatment surfaces and all non-disposable patient care items
- Maintaining treatment areas so that they are clean and in order
- Providing assistance with equipment maintenance, as necessary
- Monitoring and restocking supplies
- Keeping storage rooms in order
- Changing linen on the plinths after each patient use
- Restocking linen when necessary
- Assisting in performing annual inventory
- Assisting with clerical tasks (answer unit's phone calls and refer questions to appropriate persons, check phone messages, and assist in making copies
- Attending to errands as requested by the supervisor
- Work in a dynamic environment across multiple settings, which treating patients and team members with care and respect
- Model the organization's We Care values in interactions
- Adhere to SUNY Downstate Policies and Procedures
