The School of Public Health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Assistant / Student Recruitment Specialist.
The Student Recruitment Specialist will be the point of contact for all School of Public Health (SPH) recruitment and enrollment matters. Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions, the candidate will be responsible for all recruitment activities and creating new strategic partnerships focused on enrollment and marketing. Additionally, the candidate will ensure a smooth application and admissions process for prospective SPH students. Overall job tasks include, but are not limited to:
Recruitment & Admissions
- Oversees recruitment and admission for both the Brooklyn campus and the Manhattan extension site
- Develop and implement student recruitment plans and make recommendations to leadership to achieve SPH enrollment goal.
- Manage SOPHAS/AMP application completion, review of applications within the SPH Admissions and Doctoral committees.
- Support the development of policies and procedures for obtaining maximum productivity from the University admissions system and SOPHAS.
- Direct the admissions process for all applicants and provide leadership in the development of all SPH admission literature, marketing, and advertising materials.
- Collaborate with both University and SPH leadership to identify additional market segments, partners, and University-wide programs and initiatives for targeted recruitment that will lead to a diverse pool of qualified students and increase enrollment.
- Identifies and communicates changes to SOPHAS, AMP systems to reflect new programs and admission requirements and revisions.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the Office of Admissions and the SPH on MD/MPH applicants and other allied health applicants in terms of review of applications, notification of decisions, and selection of concentrations.
- Supports relationship maintenance with educational partners with whom we have current MOA’s
- Plan program information sessions on campus and at locations in target markets involving key administrators, faculty, alumni, and students where appropriate.
- Support staff in the coordination and execution of recruitment events.
Data Management
- Complies with and understands the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Develop a database and tracking mechanism to collect, analyze and monitor current and historical SPH enrollment data
- Provide data regarding communication and metrics of prospective and in-progress applicants for review at weekly recruitment meetings
- Ensure consistent data collection and reporting to meet immediate and long-rang University objectives
- Coordinate with relevant offices (e.g., Institutional Research, Office of Admissions) to ensure the accuracy of SPH enrollment data for internal and external reporting purposes.
Strategic Planning
- Develop and implement strategic recruitment plans and provide leadership in achieving the SPH enrollment goals.
- Analyzes market conditions and trends in public health and higher education admissions and develop/adjusts recruitment strategies accordingly.
- Explore and enhance the strategic use of scholarships and financial aid in recruitment efforts
- Coordinates admissions marketing initiatives and contributes to the development of an institutional marketing plan.
