Job Summary:

The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President for Hospital Facilities. The successful candidate will:

  • Provide leadership and is responsible for the operational and preventive maintenance for all utilities, services, building, and grounds at the University Hospital of Brooklyn (UHB).
  • Supervise Hospital Facilities Coordinators, Environmental Services including off-site properties, Bed Shop and Page Operators.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for hospital facilities with the TJC, NYSDOH, CMS, and all other regulators having jurisdiction over the hospital operations.
  • Develop and present to Senior Leadership Team (SLT) required renovation, code compliance and other projects regularly.
  • Perform all required evaluations and competency assessments for the employees of the hospital facility crew.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in FM&D (Health Science Center Facilities) to strategize and plan for hospital facilities projects.
  • Provide 24/7 facilities management for all UHB facilities.
  • Track all contracts related to the occupation of hospital off-sites where patient care is provided.
  • Function as the hospital representative and be an active participant on the State University Construction Fund (SUCF).
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in FM&D (Health Science Center Facilities) to strategize and plan for hospital facilities projects.
  • Coordinate program efforts with the campus physical plant.
  • Direct activities in hospital space development and utilization.
  • Participate in committees and Master Space Planning for the hospital and satellite locations.
  • Administer project activities through assignment of qualified personnel.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by the Senior Vice President for Hospital Operations (COO).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree
  • 5-7 years of hospital operations experience
  • 2-3 years of facilities management and project management experience
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience and/or project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification: CHFM (Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager).

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 8:30am to 4:30pm (Full-Time)

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
