Job Summary:

The Department of Facilities Management & Development at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Electrical Shop Supervisor, Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator. The successful candidate will:

  • Report to the Director of Physical Plant and Associate Director of Physical Plant.
  • Coordinate of repairs and maintenance activities with other shop users.
  • Develop scopes of minor projects and prepare estimates.
  • Coordinate support and monitoring of construction projects and contractor activities.
  • Verify as built drawing accuracy.
  • Management of electrical issues for all campus and satellite buildings.
  • Participate in maintenance and operation of emergency power systems including diesel generators.
  • Plan and coordinate systems repairs and time-frames.
  • Responsible for ordering replacement parts indicating quality and type required.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program for electrical equipment and italicizing our computerized maintenance management work order system.
  • Close follow-up with department trade supervisors, contractors and facilities Management Department staff.
  • Function as liaison for capital equipment commissioning projects.
  • Perform other duties as requested by Director of Physical Plant and Associate Director of Physical Plant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electronic theory and practice as applied to the electrical trade, UPS systems and related switchgear. 
  • Knowledge and experience with TMA computerized maintenance management software.
  • TJC regulatory experience in satisfying document requirements for emergency lighting and power is necessary.
  • Ability to train and supervise others, manage and coordinate multiple projects while producing time results.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6-years full-time satisfactory experience as a Journeyman Electrician and/or 4-years in an Electrical Supervisory capacity acquired within the last fifteen years.  

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; 8:00am to 4:00pm (Full-Time)

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
