Job Summary:

The Department of Ambulatory Care Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Nursing. The successful candidate will:
- Assume responsibility for the department’s daily operations, including scheduling of staff to align with units’ nursing care hours
- Serve as a role model, mentor, and manager, and must use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions that are consistent with UHD’s operating goals and objectives
- Use appropriate policies and procedures in the delivery of quality patient care
- Collect and maintain necessary data to support Process Improvement-Evidence Based practice
- Ensure the unit council maintains a productive monthly meeting
- Develop and implement innovative strategies to promote and foster team spirit and boost morale
- Take an active role in managing services
- Promote education and professional development for staff, students, and patients
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team/professional staff members in the development of educational goals for the service
- Directs and enforces compliance with several state and regulatory agency standards
- Monitor and promote the improvement of the patient care process
