Job Summary:

The Department of Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Assistant/Internal Medicine Residency Coordinator. The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as point-of-contact for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Counsel residents on program policies and procedures.
  • Be flexible in time so as to meet required deadlines.
  • Oversee the daily operation of the Residency Training office.
  • Write/edit letters of recommendation letters as deemed necessary.
  • Evaluate resident morale and concerns; if necessary, escalate to leadership.
  • Coordinate residency retreats, conferences, and other general resident related events.
  • Track and verify procedures; maintain documentation for board eligibility.
  • Ensure that resident manuals and annual rotations current.
  • Maintain accurate information on residents payroll and line allocations.
  • Coordinate graduation event.
  • Serve as advisory for fellowship program directors and administrators.
  • Act as a program contact to govern agencies and all affiliates.
  • Act as a program director's designee for Time and Attendance submission.
  • Work with all governing entities; internally and externally.
  • Prepare budgetary documents and statistics pertaining to the residency program.
  • Be prepared to generate reports requested by leadership.
  • Be knowledgeable about New Innovations Database System. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Prior experience in medical education administration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in an academic medical setting is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills is highly preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
