The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, NS26 Coronary Care Unit (Nights). The successful candidate will:
- Provide professional nursing care to patients within the framework of the Nursing Process.
- Diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching, and health counseling.
- Provide care supportive to and restorative of health and well-being.
- Maintain safe levels of care while adhering to a medical regimen.
- Promote constructive communication among health team members.
- Collaborate with the physician and other health care providers.
- Represent UHB in a positive manner by demonstrating respect and courtesy to all internal and external customers.
- Communicate effectively with customers, visitors, patients and staff.
- Contribute to UHBs process improvement activities.
- Take an active role in managing resources.
- Use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with UHB operating goals and objectives.
- Use appropriate policies and procedures to deliver quality services.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Perform nursing care using the nursing process as the framework.
- Provide an individualized plan of care based on data collected from the admission assessment and awareness of the expected length of stay.
- Incorporate patient/family/significant other teaching into routine care of the patient.
- Cooperate and work collaboratively towards solution that generally benefit all involve parties; works cooperatively with others to accomplish unit and hospital objectives.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
- Foster a professional working environment.
