Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor 1, NS26 Coronary Care Unit (Nights). The successful candidate will:

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients within the framework of the Nursing Process.
  • Diagnose and treat responses to actual or potential health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching, and health counseling.
  • Provide care supportive to and restorative of health and well-being.
  • Maintain safe levels of care while adhering to a medical regimen.
  • Promote constructive communication among health team members.
  • Collaborate with the physician and other health care providers.
  • Represent UHB in a positive manner by demonstrating respect and courtesy to all internal and external customers.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, visitors, patients and staff.
  • Contribute to UHBs process improvement activities.
  • Take an active role in managing resources.
  • Use ethical principles to guide decisions and actions consistent with UHB operating goals and objectives.
  • Use appropriate policies and procedures to deliver quality services.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Perform nursing care using the nursing process as the framework.
  • Provide an individualized plan of care based on data collected from the admission assessment and awareness of the expected length of stay.
  • Incorporate patient/family/significant other teaching into routine care of the patient.
  • Cooperate and work collaboratively towards solution that generally benefit all involve parties; works cooperatively with others to accomplish unit and hospital objectives.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Foster a professional working environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • 1-year of relevant clinical experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; 7:30pm to 8:00am (Nights)

Salary Grade/Rank:

SG-22

Salary Range:

As per civil service guidelines
