Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking an hourly/part-time TH Staff Assistant 2, Nursing/Staffing Office. The successful candidate will:

  • Receive, document, and inform appropriate Nursing units for absences.
  • Upon direction of Staffing Coordinator/Nursing Supervisor, reassign staff according to changes in patient census and other categories and unit activities.
  • Input accurate changes in Kronos within 24 hours.
  • Prepare and assist the incoming shift with staffing and staffing projections.
  • Call the different units for staffing and ensure that staff time of arrival to the units is documented and inputted in Kronos.
  • Obtain supplemental staff as needed (overtime and agency).
  • Ensure that assigned units have the number of staff according pattern.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-year of administrative support experience in a comparable setting. 
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a fast-paced environment.
