Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories, Surgical Pathology & Autopsy at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Morgue Attendant/TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist 4. The successful candidate will:

  • Assist in performing autopsies or organ harvesting, including preparation of the cadaver, the equipment and the general work area.
  • Stock and maintain inventory and autopsy supplies, reagents, and media.
  • Maintain storage of microscope slides and paraffin tissue blocks.
  • Dispose of regulated medical waste according to established regulations.
  • Assist with departmental inventory management systems.
  • Deliver supplies and documents to various departments as requested by the department's supervisory personnel. 

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • 3+ years of experience in assisting in autopsy procedures or other anatomic pathology related service.

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
