Job Summary:

The Department of Hospital Administration at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Vice President/Senior Associate Vice President, Ambulatory Care Services.

Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, The Senior Associate Vice President (SAVP) for Ambulatory Care Services will be responsible for key functions of the University Hospital at Downstate's Ambulatory Care Centers, which includes:

  • Responsibility for all business, financial/operational affairs of the area.
  • In partnership with the physician, the SAVP will be instrumental  with setting/executing near/long term strategic goals and business development objectives.
  • The SAVP and Chief Physician will identify opportunities for business/financial improvement making recommendations regarding specific initiatives. 

Additionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Ensure the efficient economic and quality performance of assigned departments to support the organizational mission and to provide quality health care services.
  •  Ensure the responsible preparation and management of departmental budgets.
  • Ensure that departments are continuously compliant with CMS accreditation standards and those of other accrediting bodies where relevant. These include, ensuring that departmental policies and procedures are current, reviewed periodically and consistent with stationary requirements and expectations of relevant accrediting bodies.
  • Ensure specific programs have the relevant certifications expected by government and payers.
  • Facilitate the development of department managers through ongoing communication, counseling and performance management, interviews, select hires, counsels, and holds managers and staff accountable for their performance. 
  • Establish and promote methods to assure that managers and staff have input to decisions that affect them. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 to 7 years of management experience.
  • Master's Degree (MBA, MHA, MPH) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Highly-developed leader with strong interpersonal and strategic planning skills, along with the strong ability for team building, managing change, time management, conflict resolution, fiscal management, and experience with integrated information systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse preferred. 

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

MH-2

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
