Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Cardiac Catheterization Lab Tech. The successful candidate will: 

  • Assist in the performance of invasive and non-invasive cardiac diagnostic procedures. Responsible for the maintenance of electronic monitoring equipment, use of monitoring equipment, and operation and servicing of recording devices.
  • Assist with patient preparation. Participate in Code H/on-call/recall schedules with beeper coverage.
  • Program and operate power injector during Cardiac Cath procedures. Must ensure that the injector is air-free for every procedure at all times.
  • Operate radiation equipment. Must check the system upon arrival daily and perform all necessary function tests and calibrations in accordance with Hospital, State, and Federal guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain CD system. Must ensure that CDs/DVDs are appropriately labeled with the correct markers and verified before signing out the disk.
  • Monitor appropriate supply usage and submit a request to order needed supplies based on established par levels. Must ensure par levels are maintained and all rooms are stocked with the necessary supplies for operations.
  • Maintain procedure logs and billing sheets daily. Must log all procedures in the procedure logbook and billing sheets daily in accordance with specifications, and logs must be completed accurately daily.
  • Operate digital imaging archival system and ensures cases are properly sent and confirms case retrieval.
  • Ensure the temperature is maintained at a correct working level in the chiller and UPS room.
  • Contact vendor for service when necessary. Equipment failure must be reported to the immediate supervisor. Trouble-shoot systems [Centricity and Hemodynamics] when appropriate.
  • Initiate Mac Lab systems, which entails powering up, inputting demographics, and starting procedures.
  • Transfer patients on and off the Cardiac Catheterization procedure table.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree. 
  • AART or other certification in specialty.

(Advanced degree may be substituted for AAS and experience).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience preferred (new graduates and/or 1 to 2 years of experience will be strongly considered). 
  • New York State Medical Radiographer Licensure.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 7:30am to 4:00pm

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
