Job Summary:

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. The successful candidate will:

  • Serve two to four months on the inpatient infectious diseases consult service with on-call responsibilities. 
  • Serve two to three half-day sessions in an infectious diseases clinic.
  • Build outpatient practice be developing services such as wound care, travel medicine, STD care, etc.
  • Serve as the inpatient and outpatient infectious disease liaison for growing solid organ transplant services.
  • Attend clinical transplant meetings, and confer with other staff.
  • Supervise fellows, resident and medical students in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Participate in College of Medicine teaching program in the pre-clinical years as per the section chief.
  • Attend and participate in divisional activities including all conferences, journal clubs and faculty meetings.
  • Participate on hospital and university committees. 
  • Participate in clinical research with access to divisional lab resources. 

Required Qualifications:

  • MD with Board Certification in Infectious Diseases.
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry and analysis; background in biostatistics is helpful.
  • Multicultural awareness and bilingual language skills (French/Creole) would be ideal.
