Job Summary:

The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Assistant. The successful candidate will:

  • Direct and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the College of Nursing (CON) Simulation Laboratory and resource allocation based on the CON's operating budget for the lab.
  • Provide weekly report to Assistant Dean for Administration.
  • Collaborate with the CON Administration and Assistant Dean to develop the annual Simulation lab Budget.
  • Ensure Simulation Lab vendor contracts are in place, as indicated.
  • Monitor Simulation Lab expenses to ensure accuracy of invoices/charges to appropriate cost centers and suppliers, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  • Monitor CON office, printing, and laboratory-related supplies to safeguard resources and reduce risk of loss. Support CON operation of printing resources, including faculty/staff support to access this resource.
  • Support grant application and grant reporting for Simulation-Laboratory and undergraduate department funding initiatives.
  • Provide support to the Executive Director of the CON Simulation Laboratory to collate and maintain documents/ databases associated with Simulation Laboratory accreditation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Administration or related field.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Prior experience in coordinating and working in a multi-task operation.
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and video conference programs such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype and WebEx. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In lieu of a Master’s Degree, 5+ years of experience supporting at the executive level with accountability of daily operations of the office, preferably in a higher education and/or medical institution.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-3

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
