Job Summary:

The Department of Radiology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time MRI/CT/RI Manager / TH Medical Radiography Assistant Director. The successful candidate will:

  • Supervise and perform the duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of Cat Scan and MRI equipment.
  • Ensure that all standards of care are met for patients.
  • Ensure standards for all regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission and NYC/BRH Department of Health are met.
  • Provide area assignments of personnel and coordinate activities within the department.
  • Provide effective communication with other departments and services of the hospital.
  • Be responsible for the procurement and storage of supplies.
  • Be responsible for providing statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information, and fiscal requirements.
  • Provide good customer service to our patient population and co-workers.
  • Become fully knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures, including quality control.
  • Problem solve regarding equipment usage and availability.
  • Provide assistance to the Radiologist in developing and introducing new techniques and procedures.
  • Monitor and enhance the program for quality control and quality assurance standards.
  • Supervise Cat Scan and MRI technologists.
  • Perform CT or MRI procedures at a technical level; includes obtaining pertinent clinical and medical history of patients.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the effects of radiation exposure, radiation procedures, computer applications and imaging techniques; also responsible for safety precautions for patients and workers in regard to radiation exposure.
  • Prepare CT and MRI departments for accreditation.
  • Assist in the orientation and implementation of new techniques, research projects and in-service education as directed.
  • Perform all departmental related duties and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to utilize computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System and PACS; burn CD’s and DVD’s when necessary.
  • Be available for on-call, holiday, and emergency coverage as required and needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State X-Ray Licensure.
  • 5+ years of hospital-based experience in CT or MRI procedures.
  • ARRT Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • CT or MRI Certification preferred.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 8:00am to 4:00pm

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL-4

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
