Job Summary:
|
The Department of Student Affairs at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Counselor. The successful candidate will:
- Provide short term counseling and facilitate groups for students.
- Maintain timely and accurate electronic clinical records and client schedules.
- Develop and implement relevant programming to provide outreach and training for the campus community, including psycho-education, preventative care, and wellness cultural competency.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Demonstrate an interest in integrating into the campus community.
- Consult with University faculty to provide guidance on mental health issues that arise both with individual students and more general requests.
- Expand and maintain a network of community providers and resources for students whose needs are beyond the scope of on-campus services.
- Engage in professional development to maintain best clinical practices through reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars.

Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program strongly preferred.
- New York State Licensure as Clinical Psychologist strongly preferred.
- Previous position working in a college or university counseling center setting is preferred and work with students in a professional field of study, such as medicine, health professions, or nursing, is strongly preferred.
