Job Summary:

The STAR Program in the Department of Medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Medical Director / Clinical Associate Professor (HS).
- Oversee all aspects of care provided within primary care program targeted to patients with or at risk or HCV, HIV and substance use, in accordance with NYSDOH standards of care.
- Provide direction and supervision to all medical staff (MDs, NPs, PAs), Clinic Operations Manager, Referral Coordinator and Director of Professional Training and Education.
- Provide leadership to a comprehensive quality improvement program, ensuring adherence to the standards of the NYS DOH AIDS Institute, NCQA and other regulatory agencies.
- Provide leadership to specialty training programs and ensure integration of trainees into care delivery system.
- Ensure coordinated care between UHB’s inpatient service, emergency department, and other ambulatory services.
- Serve as the senior representative for all clinical issues related to STAR Health Center, both internally and externally.
- Develop and/or oversee multiple grant funded programs, ensuring adherence to contract deliverables.
- Develop program evaluation and/or clinical research as it relates to health outcomes of the target populations.
- Maintain knowledge of all relevant city, state and federal policies which impact the provision of care to target populations.
- Provide direct primary care and ID consultation in the STAR Health Center which includes serving as a preceptor for medical student and trainees.
- Serve as an attending on the Infectious Disease service 1-2 months per year.
