Job Summary:

The Department of Continuing Medical Education at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time/hourly Adjunct Adjunct Instructor, Acupuncture Program. The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare syllabi for the assigned course(s).
  • Teach assigned classes in accordance with new trends.
  • Review course syllabi and requirements with students.
  • Provide in class and online learning activities.
  • Prepare, administer, proctor, and grade papers and examinations, and other required assignments.
  • Orient students to relevant protocols and procedures.
  • Evaluate each students clinical performance.
  • Provide student academic advisement as it relates to the student progress in the course.
  • Instruct students in completing relevant documents.  

Required Qualifications:

  • New York State Acupuncturist Licensure. 
  • Master's Degree or a Doctorate in Management, Medical Sciences, or Education and/or extensive work experience in the field of health. 
  • Demonstrated success in teaching at an institution of higher education.
  • Ability to teach classes during the evening and/or weekends.
  • Experience using technology and interactive electronic materials to support teaching and learning.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
  • Knowledge of Oriental Medicine.
