Job Summary:

The Midwifery Program in the School of Health Professions at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor (12MO). The successful candidate will:

  • Teach didactic and skills, including simulation, onsite and virtual.
  • Write and administer examinations.
  • Administer Competency Performance Examinations (clinical exams).
  • Develop and grade student written assignments and/or student presentations.
  • Provide student advisement.
  • Liaise with clinical sites.
  • Conduct admission interviews and participate in admission decisions.
  • Participate in information sessions for potential applicants.
  • Participate in school and university committee work.
  • Participate in professional research or work toward an advanced degree - release time provided.
  • Work on curriculum development and revisions.
  • Attend school and program-wide faculty and staff meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Certification as Certified Midwife (CM) or Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (DM, PhD, DrPH, EDD, DNP or other related).
  • Recent full-scope Midwifery experience (within the last 2 years).
  • Teaching experience - clinical and/or classroom.
  • Research experience.
  • Professional involvement in Midwifery.
  • Experience in anti-racism work.

Variable Days; Variable Hours

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications
