Job Summary:

The Department of Peri-Operative Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a Per Diem Registrar. The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as administrative support staff for the unit.
  • Ensure the expeditious processing of registration and administrative functions in the Pre-Op Unit.
  • Keep patients' charts in order by labeling and inserting forms when necessary.
  • Print out daily census sheet.
  • Efficiently and courteously answers incoming phone calls received within the department.
  • Courteously greet patients arriving for surgical procedures.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the department.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience using databases, including registration and information systems and general computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in scheduling, patient registration, and insurance authorization.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Hospital experience.
