Job Summary:

The Department of Transplant Surgery at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time TH Staff Assistant 1 / Transplant Assistant. The successful candidate will:
- Schedule meetings and appointments for the Department Chief.
- Perform telephone triage, assess problems, and ensure patient phone calls are routed to the appropriate healthcare providers, Including clinicians, nurses, social workers, and mental health providers.
- Greet patients and provide guidance as needed.
- Help manage missed patient appointments by ensuring frequent follow-up communication with staff.
- Communicate with other healthcare facilities regarding the transfer of medical records, ensuring signed consent for all patient Information. Handle patient charts, including packing charts as required by the department.
- Prepare meeting agendas and materials; attend meetings to take notes. Transcribe meeting minutes. Distribute mail.
- Provide clinic coverage as needed by the department.
- Create and edit correspondence, presentations, and proposals.
- Organize projects and prepare files for review and delivery, if required.
- Organize and maintain electronic and paper files.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chief.

Required Qualifications:
|
- Associate Degree.
- 3 to 5 years of administrative work experience.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong verbal, organizational, interpersonal, communication and decision-making skills.
